Under the Teacher Loan Forgiveness program, borrowers could get up to $17,500 forgiven on both subsidized and unsubsidized loans.
  • Loan Discharge

    When your student loan is discharged, that means you don’t have to pay off the remainder of the loan. Loans may be discharged for any of the following reasons:

    • Permanent disability

    • Bankruptcy
    • The school closed
    • False certification of student eligibility

    • Unpaid refunds
  • Loan Cancellation

    Cancellation applies to student loans under the Perkins Loan Program. These cancellations are available to people who perform specific types of public service or have certain occupations.
